ILEPS’ INTERNATIONAL REACH

ILEPS, École Supérieure des Métiers du Sport, (institution of higher education for sport professions) is a multidisciplinary academic institution which offers undergraduate and postgraduate courses in sport science, physical exercise, education, health, economy, entrepreneurship and management.

The aim of our international strategy is to integrate teacher and student mobility within our courses in order to contribute to a knowledgeable performance economy and to infuse the training and research sectors dedicated to sport, education and health with energy and innovation.

We are mainly focused on four axis:

  • Fostering intercultural dialogue and fulfilling the needs of people experiencing European mobility;
  • Participating in the implementation of training and research programmes enhancing the knowledge of cultural diversity and European languages;
  • Encouraging exchanges between higher education institutions in order to bridge the academic and the professional world;
  • Developing research and training partnerships dedicated to people with specific needs with higher education institutions.

These four axis will stem from the following academic subjects:

  • Law, economics, management, marketing and business administration;
  • Work psychology adapted to the entrepreneurial logic facing globalisation and innovation;
  • Intercultural psychology applied to the sectors of education, sport and health;
  • Teacher training.

With our international exchange strategies, we aim to strengthen the interconnections between multilateral research programmes and multilateral training programmes.

Our objective is to contribute to the development of a European regional pole of excellence, allowing the sectors of sport, health and education to improve job prospects quantitatively and qualitatively and to ensure greater social cohesion.

OUR DIPLOMAS AND CREDIT SYSTEMS

All our diplomas follow the same logic: each academic module is associated with a credit system which facilitates student and teaching staff’s mobility. Brochures detailing the content of our courses and ECTS credits can be downloaded from our Internet Website.

For incoming students:

As soon as their application is accepted, incoming students receive a welcome pack with practical and academic information to help them to prepare their stay in Cergy (Val d’Oise).

They are put in contact with our accommodation service and can enrol for some intensive French classes.

The week before the start of each semester, integration activities are organized in collaboration with French students.

The Erasmus coordinator of each department is in charge of the student’s educational support during the mobility period. A marks sheet is sent to the home institution following the deliberations of each semester.

For outgoing students:

Any student interested in a mobility period has to attend a personalised interview with the International Relation Coordinator to elaborate the project. Several information meetings will take place throughout the year, including meetings with students who are about to leave, returning students and foreign students.

The selected applicants attend consolidating language courses before their departure.

Throughout their mobility period, students doing an internship or studying abroad are followed by a referent teacher who is also the person they should refer to for modifying their Learning Agreement.

The accepted subjects that have been validated abroad are re-integrated into the student’s curriculum at ILEPS and his/her mobility period is specified in the Diploma Supplement.

The implementation of multilateral research programmes is also a way to facilitate teacher mobility.

CURRICULAR INTERNSHIPS

At ILEPS, work placement is at the heart of the student training. Our study programmes include several mandatory internships.

Host organisations and students can be put in contact in three different ways:

Host organisations, which are long-term partners, come and select the applicants during meetings held for that purpose, or;

Lists of possible host organisations, established on the basis of previous years’ contacts, are given to students who then have to contact the host organisation they wish to work with, or;

Students suggest an unlisted organization to the department dealing with internships at ILEPS. In this case, we will contact the organization to discuss the terms and conditions of the mission in compliance with our training principles, the organization’s organizational principles and the skills students have to develop during their internship.

Within the students’ curriculum, internships have a dual purpose. They combine research training with the analysis of practical work experiences. The objective being that every student should acquire transversal skills. Moreover, the internships selected by the student are assessed in connection with his/her career plan and in connection with the new skills that are necessary to perform new jobs.

Student internship

Internships aim to develop students’ interdisciplinary skills (both social and intercultural) and a corporate spirit which will enable them to adapt to our ever changing society.
